No, I mena the chat won't let me in basically (it says "Either a wrong username or password" although I'm normally logged in here).

(The boss is in Kiev for a conference kind of thing this week, so it's all easy going - or as much as it can be in such an observed location - for the next two days.)

Oh, ok, now I get it. But when it tells you about wrong password, it then takes you to the chat login screen, where your usual forum username & pass should work. Please try that too, and if it doesn't work, we can try again once you get back home.

But it didn't took me there. The scrren notice came, I pressed OK and it tried to log me in directly after that again - with the same result. But it can very well be that it's due to the work 'PC' - as it isn't a real, full computer, but more like a 'relais' station for a huge server. A LOT of stuff doesn't work like it normally should here.

Oh, it could be... Chat is HEAVILY dependant on FLASH so maybe that is why. Also, keep in mind, it is all certainly logged, so let's not force it.

However, if you really need it (or some other banned site), you can try to first open http://www.hidemyass.com and from there open the site you wish.

Thanks - it's OK though as I just wanted to say why I can't come to the chat but that I am there nonetheless.

On my way home now, so back in a while.

(The name of that side is funny.)

Morning :)

After having to reboot my work laptop completely (what takes around 20 minutes - I want a new one, this one here sucks!) I managed to get online, finally :what:

Kiy, if oyu are the one buying, by all means get one with SSD (solid state drive). My laptop was, when I got it, top class. But, with ordinary hard disk it would still take about 60-90 seconds from the moment I power it up to the moment I can log in. Keep in mind, it was for brand new, unused laptop. Then I got a new SSD and replaced the hard drive inside (Hamburg Media Markt, he he heeee), it took me about one hour to transfer everything, put the SSD inside replacing the hard drive. Guess what? The time dropped from 90 to about 12 to 15 seconds. One of my own software applications (database processing) would, for certain procedure, take more than a minute. Now, it was doing the same process on the exatly the same data, for about 1.9 to 2.5 seconds. I think that is all enough to explain the difference, lol. If you need any assistance in this, please let me know.

My private one has a ssd drive already and I'm completely happy with that.
Unfortunately for work I have to go with what they provide me - and those are NOT top notch machines. Plus you just get a new one every 4 years... :/

Oh well... At least you can be online, they could cut that of too, or heavily filter it.

Welcome back :)

@Flighter: We just need the web for our work, so there's not much use for filtering... lucky ;)

I love using SSDs in my computers. Ever since I started using an SSD in place of the traditional mechanical hard drive, I don't think I could ever go back to a mechanical hard drive.

Lol, true. Exceptional speed... Reliability on the long run could be the issue, but I change laptops every 2 to 3 years so I guess that I am not at risk... I just wish they make large laptops like mine with 2 hard drive bays, so I can do the mirroring... Nothing really beats that. I would not like to lose some important (or any!) work without having a backup more than one day old :(

But, so far, no problems. First SSD lasted as long as the laptop itself (I sold it), second one is with me since June, still no problems.
