Re: The unbeliebable 'real world'
This world is seriously sick. I am scared of the world my kids and especially grand kids will live in.
Maybe it's the time for a total reboot?

I am kinda waiting for a global natural desaster as humanity obvioulsy isn't able to change for the btter (for more than 10 years or so) on it's own.

Re: The unbeliebable 'real world'
I am not really religious, but I clearly remember one illustration of 20 years ago...
God was sitting somewhere in the clouds with his keyboard in front.
So he pressed a key, and created the earth.
Then he pressed another key, and created the light...
...and so on. In the end, everywhing was created that way.
Then, humans started behaving the way they usually do...
God was deeply disappointed, and pressed the DEL key.

Oh, by the way, we are all coming from different backgrounds. Something that could be just an innocent remark for us, could be disturbing for others in certain way. And there is no way we will always agree on certain topics, so let's avoid posting stuff with the high potential to cause tensions.
Thank you for understanding!

Too easy. Two already mean a fight. It's inavoidable. You can try to duck away, but in the end it means the loss of all content in conversation.
Just saying (and I said it before).

Two means a fight only if two wish to fight

Re: The unbeliebable 'real world'
Not necessarily. A 'fight' can come out of a lot of things. Forced harmony is worse than conflict - at least in my eyes. Constantly pretending to think what you don't think and to feel what you don't feel will lead to deaster eventually - personal as well as all in all.
I doubt that this will be possible all the way (except everybody oathes by his dear life that we won't speak about anyhting except the weather besides the movie).
I just know humans a little bit too, although I'm often told that it isn't that way.
And it's nothing only negative. It's the confilct - in oneself as well as with others who can make people think, deepen their understanding of themselves and the rest of the world, spread new information - to sum it up: conflict is a bit like a plough: it may rip up the surface but can be a fertilizing preparation for new growth, if done with mind.
I understand though that we live in a world today that defines all conflict (no matter the kind) as something utterly negative, which isn't a good path to take in my eyes. We shut a lot of doors by demanding overreaching, everlasting 'harmony' in all things, no matter if it's real or not.
As much as I'd like harmony I won't want a world of permanent lies around me.
Sorry - I always wanted to say this.

Re: The unbeliebable 'real world'
Well, let me put it this way: We don't have to lie at all, but we don't have to say stuff that will maybe upset someone, that is all... unless that someone directly ask for our opinion, if you get me. I personally don't care about politicians, and I especially don't like great majority of them, but it is not necessary to say that clearly to someone who may not necessarily share my political views. Do I have some political opinions? Hell yes!!! And my opinions would upset a lot of people, lol... But if asked, I don't mind saying what I think. In my opinion, there is a tiny difference between telling lies in order to avoid conflict and avoiding telling the truth to avoid conflicts
Imagine yourself on a desert island with your extreme political opponent. In order for both of you to survive, you have to work together, and bringing up the topics related to politics would lead to imminent conflict. So what do you do?
Or, another thing... We are here because we feel we have something (but not everyting!) in common. Should we say anything and everything that comes to our mind, regardless of how others would feel about it? Well, I have some opinion on this, but each of us has to decide for him/herself if it is more important to express himself no matter what, or how we feel about this community
If, for instance, your views over something are totally opposite to mine, and if I know that by telling you what I think would make me lose you as a friend, why would I go into that topic? Of course, if you ask me what I think, I would directly or indirectly tell what I think, but without being asked, why would I create tension, when I can't gain anything by doing it?

Re: The unbeliebable 'real world'
If I would end up on a small island with a person that is the opposite of me I guess chances for survival are low for both of us.
It might be ture to try and ship around cliffs - but only as much as possible. (Maybe I had to swallow my thoughts and feelings too often in life (and still have) to be able to hold them back all the time. I do not feel sorry for this - others do it just the same (in other words: when someone says something he simply can't find troublesome there's always a chance to causing trouble with others due to the big differences between people and I think you simply can't cut that back completely. Obvious things might be obvious but there's a large range of thoughts and feelings that aren't as easy to categorize) ).
And the 'level of friendship' two people can develop is highly dependent on the level of congruence - the less two people share the smaller the chance for a closer bond. Holding back the honest thoughts and feelings won't make this any better - it's more likely a source of real trouble at a certain point. Not only here, but also - if not moreso - out there.
We all lie to avoid conflicts - every day, our whole life (like casually politeness without real reason for example). But all things got their limits. I just came to notice that too many people inhalated the demanded hypocracy so long and intense they don't even consider it as a problem anymore. Everybody may do as they wish, but I personally don't like it when the obvious truth is tried to disguised under ridiculous covers.
This only sounds 'extreme' in the beginning - just observe your surroundings (best at work) and you might understand what I mean (at least if you're not very lucky).
I guess the constant 'thinking further' is a bad habit of mine, but oh well - I don't got many others. (It's likely also one of the reaons why I don't feel the need to be 'under people' too often for too long - it's straining to keep myself back and try imitating someone I'm not .. which leads me to the simple finding that if I am here to 'relax' myself I just can't bring up those 90% I usually go outside, I just can't.)
I just thought that as this thread originally was intended to post a few observations of the unbelievable things that go on in the real world of modern, western civilisation (and the unfortunate 'rest' of the world that was being touched by it) I could've also called it 'The insanity thread' - too many things out there that simply don't go in ones mind anymore.

Re: The unbeliebable 'real world'
Look, in general, I don't disagree with you at all, don't take me wrong
The only real difference is when it comes to expressing what I feel, that is all. There is nothing wrong with you expressing yourself in any way you find appropriate, just that I had to take action to avoid further conflict. And, for the record, the instruction given to moderators and admins is not to hesitate to edit or move to the dust bin even my posts if I post something not understanding the possible consequences. It did happen once since we opened the forum, and I don't feel bad about it, lol.

Hm?
This wasn't about you or the delete at all. Simply some general thoughts on an often occuring phenomenon - maybe even more out there than in the net.

Re: The unbeliebable 'real world'
As I sit here thinking on what to say, I find myself listening to my co-workers about what they are cooking for Thanksgiving and what they want to buy for their kids for Christmas. Since it is just my husband and I, sometimes I feel like I am so out of the loop. In this world of uncertanty, it must be hard to raise children and wonder what kind of world we will leave them. But I am an optomistic person, and hope to see a better world for all. I guess this is my "Thanksgiving dinner". not overcooked, undercooked, just right.
many,many thanks.
